The Dunoon rural Fire Brigade is one of 16 brigades that service the Lismore Rural Fire District. Being a neighbouring brigade to The Channon we often assist each other attending bushfires, village structural fires,
as well as motor vehicle accidents, flood rescue and storm damage clean up. We also assist farmers with controlled burn-offs during the year to reduce the risk of bushfires in the summer months.
Our brigade consists of volunteer men and women from the local community who are on call 24 hours a day to respond to any incident. All are certified to a state wide standard and are continually training to upgrade their skills.
Over the last few years several of our members have assisted other agencies fighting fires in Victoria and South Australia as well as attending many major fires across New South Wales, most recently the Sydney/Blue Mountains fires last October. We do all our own fundraising to purchase and maintain additional essential equipment to make our unit as proficient as possible. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
